
Madinah Brown-Day is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, received her BA degree in Psychology from Rowan University in Glassboro New Jersey and completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work at Widener University in Chester Pennsylvania immediately achieving her license in Social Work and later becoming Clinically licensed in the State of New Jersey affording her the ability to practice clinical mental health counseling/therapy. Madinah has been working in the field of mental health for over 20 years.
Madinah has worked with children, adults, adolescents, couples’ families and groups in residential, outpatient, family support services, clinics’ and Behavioral Health Agencies and in-home (wrap-around services) therapy for youth and families. She has worked on many executive boards assisting with the development of organizations providing social service services within both urban and suburban communities. Madinah is the cofounder of a grassroots organization, Urban Mental Health Alliance (UMHA) which focused on bridging mental health understand, assessing need to urban citizens while dissembling the stigma of mental illness. While Madinah served as board president of UMHA, her goal was to open the discussion on “Urban Trauma” in bringing public awareness to the “specialized PTSD” before there was such a concept in the profession and mainstream academia.
Madinah and her husband John, an author and retired NJ State Police Lieutenant, own a private clinical practice Beacon Of Wellness which specializes in treating trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar, substance use disorders as well as veteran and law enforcement populations. Providing clinical supervision to others pursuing clinical licensing to practice is also a facet of Madinah’s work.
Providing emotional and behavioral health to diverse populations has been a corner stone in Madinah’s career. Her practice provides educational, consult and support services for behavioral health professionals, parents, teachers, administrators and anyone seeking greater understanding in emotional and behavioral health.
Madinah’s greatest achievement has been the role of wife and mother. MADINAH has been married for 24 years to her beloved husband and they are blessed with 5 beautiful children.
